Baby and I Look Over Some Indie YA Novels

On sale on Amazon for $0.99
Baby and I have been chatting about indie books by some of the authors I recently "met" online and she was keen to try out some of them.

So off we went to get some, and she has a new pile of To Be Read novels, and I retain my title of "The Best, Best Relative Ever!!!"

She's starting out with The Faerie Guardian, Book 1 in Rachel Morgan's Creepy Hollow series. She says The Faerie Guardian sounds just like the type of story she'd enjoy reading.

So who's Rachel Morgan?

I lifted her bio from her website and blog and she says:

Rachel Morgan is the author of Creepy  Hollow, the Amazon bestselling YA paranormal fantasy series. She was born in South Africa and  spent a large portion of her childhood living in a fantasy land of her own making.

After completing a degree in genetics, she decided science wasn’t for her—after all, they didn’t approve of made-up facts. These days she spends much of her time immersed in fantasy land once more, writing fiction for young adults.

And here's the synopsis for The Faerie Guardian

Protecting humans from dangerous magical creatures is all in a day's work for a faerie training to be a guardian. Seventeen-year-old Violet Fairdale knows this better than anyone--she's about to become the best guardian the Guild has seen in years.

That is, until a cute human boy who can somehow see through her faerie glamour follows her into the fae realm. Now she's broken Guild Law, a crime that could lead to her expulsion.

The last thing Vi wants to do is spend any more time with the boy who got her into this mess, but the Guild requires that she return Nate to his home and make him forget everything he's discovered of the fae realm. Easy, right?

Not when you factor in evil faeries, long-lost family members, and inconvenient feelings of the romantic kind. Vi is about to find herself tangled up in a dangerous plot--and it'll take all her training to get out of it alive.

I told Baby I might...might.. publish her review on Storypot, if it's well written.  It's good practice for her if she wants to go into the writing biz (she's very annoyed that Seventeen Magazine, which she wanted to intern with, has closed down).

So, you'll get a teen's perspective on some indie YA novels which I think is more legit than my own view,  because when it comes to purchasing her books, Baby is the final authority. Her mother and I are just supposed to hand over the cash.

Baby already chatters quite a bit about books, music, clothes and other teenage things she likes on her own blog, so writing the review shouldn't be a problem. Maybe:-)

News from home

Mma and I are creaking along. She was feeling a bit poorly, though not anything to worry too much about, so we have a doctor's appointment for tomorrow.

I'm also going to ask him to look me over - I had excruciating pain on my left fingers the other day, as if my nerve endings were highly irritated. Heat made the pain worse, and ice wrap soothed it, painkillers just made me feel woozy but the pain stayed.

It eventually went away but I don't know where it came from and whether it will come back, so best I talk to the doc about, arrest the situation ASAP if there is anything to arrest.

Well, I have not read this book and it is not really my thing, but I got super-excited about her bio - a scientist who preferred to be a writer - oh yes, that sounds good!

My pleasure, Rachel. Thanks for checking out Baby too. She's new to blogging and still learning, but she's having a lot of fun doing it and I'm happy wit her progress.
