South Africa's broadcasting signal distributor Sentech says it has adopted the Ikhaya Lothando Children’s Home, which is under the patronage of the Uitenhage Child and Welfare Centre in the Eastern Cape.
Ikhaya Lothando Children’s Home cares for teenage children that are orphaned, abused, homeless and affected and infected by HIV/Aids.
Staff from Sentech’s Port Elizabeth offices will celebrate Women’s Day (tomorrow) by volunteering to the home. "The day’s activities will include a luncheon, volleyball games and soccer match between the children and Sentech staff," the company says.
Staff will also attend to urgent maintenance issues at the centre and the children will also receive gifts clothing and soccer balls as gifts.
These children are the future of South Africa and we need to protect them and ensure they are motivated to succeed and get a good education, says Sentech’s corporate communications manager Pranill Ramchander.
