My fingers are sore.
Today I wrote an anthology essay for an international publisher, and the whole story came to over 4000 words.
It’s been a long time since I had the freedom to tell a story as I did with this essay. As a journalist I usually have to say things as tightly as possible, and usually, 500 words was too long on news pieces I wrote.
So working to a guideline of 3000 to 6000 words was intimidating. But the words came together very easily, and I’m happy with the result.
