Some great news to warm me on this cold winter day: the publishers of an anthology I contributed to in 2007 have contacted me to say they would like to publish a second edition of the book.
Of course I'm saying yes, especially as they sweetened the pot with some kind of payment and immediately emailed me a contract when I gave a verbal agreement.
Details are still sketchy at this stage, but I'll keep you posted as developments unfold. And the book is expected to have a general release in national bookstores, which will be nice.
I love having some kind of body of work, especially when old works are given a new lease of life.

Congratulations Damaria! That should be awesome. You are the most amazing writer-mom I ever came across. Touch wood! I wish you all the success with your second edition.
Congratulations - I hope sales are great and you make a lot of money from royalties. Stay warm and keep writing!
Hey Ms Lona-Lee. I hope the heating pads worked for you.
No royalties - I wish! Just a flat fee. But still more than I expected for that story
@iWrite2Know - thanks for the compliment. The book stands a good chance, because some of the contributors are really awesome and I felt honoured that my submission managed to squeeze in:-)
Congratulations Damaria. I wish you every success. Hope you haven't had any regrets turning down that job offer!!
@BeckyJoie & Pam - Thanks for your comments. I can see them from the back-end, but somehow when I click as an ordinary user they don't reflect. I'm not quite sure how to fix the problem.
@Sheena - I'm actually happy working as I am. But you have to admit the money tempting, LOL. And it was nice to be asked; tells me if I'm ever forced to seek employment, there is a market for my services.
