Publishing Your Blog As A Book

Have you ever considered publishing your blog as a book? Are you ever going to do it? And what did you think of books that evolved from blogs ( if you've read any). What did you like/dislike about these books?

The reason I ask is because I've just realised this is my 808th post on Storypot. Not a huge number considering that I've been blogging since January 2006. But it's a lot of words and a sharing of life experiences too. The thing is, I'm not quite sure if I was talking out my ear, or if I occassionally managed something useful/profound/life-changing/worth recording for posterity/worth sharing.

For now, I don't have a strong opinion on the issue, but I'd be curious to know what you think of blogs that evolve into books.

I read Mushy Peas on Toast's book. I love her blog I think she is hilarious. I think it works much much better as a blog, the book would be quite hard to follow if you didn't know the blog. But her talent is just too good to waste for free out there on a blog so I think turning it into a book was the right choice for her. I would never turn mine into a book though. I don't think mine has a slant like hers does - ie her mad life.

Hmm, not sure. Like the Yarn Harlot, she blogs and writes. They are both about yarn. But her books are more than a blog - they are truly lovely books. The blog - its here sitting down and chatting to you. Different.

So if you used your blog as a rough draft / outline and rewrote to make a story -sure. But from what I've heard, just taking a blog and doing a wee bit of editing, they don't make brilliant reading (book wise).

I know mine wouldn't. But that's mine.

I would never publish my blog as a book. Especially if it meant divulging my real identity to readers ;-) But I reckon there's only certain types of blogs that work as books. Like http://1000awesomethings.com/. There's a very strong theme. My blog, on the other hand, is whatever rambles are in my head on a given day.
