Mindpool hosts writing competition for 10-16 year olds

Mindpool Productions, a SA company that produces a variety of inserts for SABC Education's 2-hour daily broadcast of School TV, is running a writing competition for 10 to 16 years olds.

The children are invited to submit [individually or in group of no more than 3] stories that could be made into a short film. Deadline for submission is the 31 October 2006.

The theme of the story is open- children must write what's important to them, the competition organisers say.

A two-day story writing and casting workshop will then take place with the winning author/s and other children who may feature in the film. Through this process, the children will be introduced to the world of film-making.

For more information about the competition and to access entry forms, go to Mindpool’s web site at Mindpool's web site.

I wish

When I saw the competition announced on TV, I wished Baby was 10 years old. Not that she has expressed any interest in writing.

It just seems to me that the competition could introduce her to my world ( of writing ) and the world of film-making, which is always interesting for a youngster to learn about. But, alas, she’s too young.
