Final Update on DCI, some site changes coming up

I'm knee-deep in interviews and writing a pile of case studies. I've discovered that I like waking up very early in the morning and starting work between 4.30 - 5.30. It gives me a sense of well-being when at 8am, I've ticked off some of the things that need to get done.

I know some people think working from home means enjoying a life of leisure. With whom? Family and friends have all gone to work and school, and it's rather difficult to have fun all by yourself. So, like everyone else, you work.

Anyway, the rest of the Digital Citizen Indaba and the opening day of Highway Africa Conference was great.

Ramon Thomas, who recommended me as speaker to the DCI, introduced me to blogger Gareth Roberts


Ramon has also offered to move my blog from Blogger to WordPress, with my own domain name. Sounds like a lot of work, and it makes me a bit nervous because I'm not so comfortable with Wordpress, but I think it's worth doing.

It will give me space for a new, better design ( which is LONG overdue) and capacity to do much more with this blog. I will however, take things slowly, so don't expect changes in the short-term.

I took a lot of notes during sessions, but a lot of it is for my own interest and use, rather than being appropriate for this blog. I also managed to get one article out of the event for a magazine.

Later, back at the ranch

Spent the past couple of days copy-editing a 100-page research report for a consultant friend. I enjoyed the assignment and learnt quite a bit about what's happening in the social development sphere .

I think my friend's decision to have someone completely removed from that sector to review/edit her report was quite healthy, because I had no pre-conceived notions on how things should be done.
