The judging process for 2008 NGO Web Awards is now over, and the organisation will announce the winners this week.
The awards form part of SANGONeTs work, which centres on promoting the strategic use of ICT in the South African development sector.
"The focus on the awards is beyond the technical and design aspects of a website, but rather we are interested in how a website as a tool is working for development and social justice," the organisation says.
Being a judge meant reviewing at about 60 web sites. The process introduced me to organisations that do good work that I did not know about, and I'm grateful for the opportunity. I also caught up with the activities of people whose work I admired, but haven't kept in touch lately. That was nice.
