Yesterday I showed Mma how my Kindle works. She looked through it, looked up some entries in the dictionary. But she still couldn't wrap her head around the fact that the little gadget in her hand is effectively a book. Or that it can store thousands of books. Do you think there will come a time when technology does not make sense to you.. me... us, the children of the information age?
Spent the morning editing a client document ( done) and reviewing a friend's poetry collection. I like the collection. I hope the Department of Arts and Culture agrees that this is a collection worth supporting.
Mostly though, I feel brain dead. as a result, I have been focussing on tasks that don't require me to be creative, such as editing, reviewing, grammar and spell checks etc, with very little original writing happening. But I've decided not to stress too much about it. I've pushed myself too much the past couple of months and then life drop-kicked me a bit. So it makes sense that my poor brain would be a bit scrambled and ready for a short break.
Most of us rely on our brains to get our jobs done. What do you do when your brain refuses to cooperate and just wants to rest? Do you push yourself because, if you're not physically tired, you're not tired, or do you take a break? What kind of activities do you do to help your mind rest and recover?

I totally take a break if I can, read, sleep, read some blogs, anything like that.
I'm with Po. A nice swim or walk can get the mind moving too.
Romcom, good book, swim, chocolate, giggling with children...all good brain resting activities.
If I'm able, I take a break. Usually a little jolt of caffeine gets me going, but some days it's just not going to happen. That's when I just allow my brain to tell me to knock it off. :)
